Sponsor a Party!

At CHCI, we use any excuse to throw a party for the chimpanzees. We decorate the room, buy and prepare special foods, create unique enrichment items, and do whatever we can to help make the day exciting and different.

Friends of Washoe offers you a chance to help us celebrate and further enrich the chimpanzees’ lives by sponsoring a party. You can sponsor a party in three ways.

1. The first, and easiest, way to sponsor a party is to provide a direct monetary donation to Friends of Washoe, through our giftshop, in cash, a check, or with your credit card. We can use this money to shop around and buy food, decorations, toys, art supplies, and so on for the big day.
   
2. A second way you can become a sponsor would be to send us gift cards to Fred Meyer, Amazon.com, (check out our Wish List!) Albertson’s, Safeway, Target, or Jerrol’s Book and Supply. We can use these for food and party supplies, too.
   
3. Finally, you can also provide us with decorations, toys, and other items yourself. These donations, are great, but are a little more work and come with some restrictions. We cannot accept homemade food—we can only take produce that we can wash thoroughly or prepackaged items. We can accept unpackaged decorations or toys, but only if we are able to wash them thoroughly with hot water and disinfectant first. So if you want your children to send some hand drawn decorations to the chimpanzees, you would need to have the decorations laminated first. We can, of course, accept new toys and decorations still in the package. Below is a list of some of the days that we will be holding some parties in 2010, along with the number of $20 (or more) sponsors we would like for each day. If you would like to become a sponsor, call us at 509-963-2244, OR our gift shop has a page for sponsors! If there’s a holiday or party theme you would like to sponsor that is not on this list, call us at the same number and share your idea.
