CWU provides a campus map that includes parking lots. They are represented in grey on the map.
The closest parking for individual cars is available in the lot across the street to the south of CHCI. (Lot P-8 on the map). Additional parking is available on the opposite corner to the southwest of CHCI (Lot 0-5 on the map) and in lot S-10 behind the psychology building to the northwest of CHCI.
Parking in these lots is limited during Central Washington University’s school year. Individual car parking permits are $3.00 each for weekday parking. Parking on the weekends is free.
Parking is not available in the back of our building, with the exception of guests with valid disabled parking placard or license plate, or senior citizen bus groups. Please call Lynn Whitacre at (509) 963-2243 for more information about parking for guests with disabilities.
We ask that if buses drop off guests behind our building, that the guests stay away from the chimpanzee's out door enclosures as it may distress the chimpanzees to have guests in view.
Heading east on Dean Nicholson Boulevard turn left on Walnut Street. Turn left again just after the Psychology Building and parking lot S-10 onto an unmarked street (you will be turning into Wahle Apartments). Follow that road until it T’s with another unmarked toad. Stop at the T; you will be in front of a large ROTC sign. Drop off the guests here, They will walk south down the gravel road and then follow the sidewalk to the front door of CHCI.
The Google map below identifies this drop off location.
After you have dropped of the guests, turn right on the unmarked road. Follow the gravel road as it winds around the Wahle Apartments to the northeast. The road will end at parking lot X-12, which is free for bus parking on weekdays and weekends, and the preferred lot for buses..
If lot X-12 is full. Turn left from lot X-12 onto 18th street. Turn left on D street. Parking lot V7 is located on the left, and is also free. Finally, additional bus parking is available in lot X-22, on the northeast corner of the campus, at the corner of Alder and 18th streets.
